COOLSET - 1001

COOLSET  1001  is a completely  nitrogen  free  Phenolic  resin, activated with acid
catalyst   and   used  in  production  of  steel,  alloy   steels  and   sophisticated   iron
castings, specially those  which are  prone to  subsurface NITROGEN PINHOLING. 
The  product  is  highly  recommended  for  use  in  thick  section castings as it offers
high  hot  strength,  excellent  scratch  hardness  at  high  temperature,  resistance to
metal penetration and mould dilation.  

 

Description:

It is a free flowing, transparent  liquid, dark  in  colour with a light brown liquid
catalyst.  The resin  contains  high solids  and  adjustable PH specially tailored
to suit various foundry application in tropical conditions.

 

Properties Resin:

The resin when tested shall have the following properties

Appearance:  Dark brown, viscous liquid
Density at 25oC 1.20 -- 1.22 gm/cc
Viscosity at 25oC 6-8 Secs (in B6 ford cup)
pH 6.2 – 6.5
Nitrogen Nil
Free Formaldehyde Less than 0.1 %
Free Phenol 6 % maximum
Gas Content Less than 40 ppm

 

Catalyst:

The catalyst should be super saturated soloution of Para  Toluene Sulphonic Acid(PTSA).

Appearance Brownish transparent liquid
Purity 70 %
Sp. Gravity at 25oC 1.2
Gel. Time 35 seconds

 

COOLSET  1001 is recommended for its:

1) Nil Nitrogen content.
2) Excellent strength and scratch hardness with comparatively lower resin addition.
3) Comparatively lower gas content.
4) Well controlled setting time.
5) Efficient reclamation of resin sand.
6) Lower free formaldehyde  content.

 

Packing:

Resin :        200 kgs in steel drums.
Catalyst :    50 & 100 kgs in HDP carboys.

 

Storage:
